Blow their minds...

So I'm on a mission at the moment to do as much crazy and 'out of the box' play as I can will the squiddlies. I want them to get carried away. I want them to shriek with glee, bounce up and down and go totally over the top with crazy madcap missions. I want them to lose themselves in deep magical worlds where they look confused when I call them for dinner and they realize they are not bogged in their 4 wheel drive in the Sahara, but still in the living room.

I want to say...'Sure you can pull the couches out and turn the living room into a mega cubby house with every sheet in the house pegged and safety pinned to the curtains. Sure you can take every cushion and blanket and beanbag we own and blow up 20 balloons and turn the hall way into a softplay centre, complete with mini trampoline.'

It was partly inspired by this incident, and partly because I want to keep Spuddy guessing. And Fae Fae is now of an age where she is getting involved.

So to cut to the chase, Spud has been really getting into his wooden train set, but has limited pieces and wanted to make it bigger. Two rolls of masking tape and a Sharpie later and voila...
A twisty turny road snaking into the hallway, under the table with a ramp running down to the kitchen.
The roads all ended in tape squares that he built up with blocks and filled with his 'friends'. And of course a hele-pad. And the farm became involved.
And a traintrack, with crossings. The whole thing took about 15 minutes to put down. We left it there for 3 days, it was a tightrope, cracks in the ground after the earthquake, and ropes to pull oneself across the floor. We had fun.

I dont have many pictures of it complete with houses, animals, airport, etc etc etc because I have made a decision not to paparazzi the kid's play in order to make my blog juicier. So you'll just have to do this activity yourself and watch your own kids get busy to experience the full impact. Happy playing and join me in BLOWING THEIR MINDS!!!!!!

A word of warning though. When we pulled it up there was glue left on the floor. It came off with a rag of white spirit. Which I then accidentally put in the wash with all my nappies. Which now smell like white spirit. Learn from my mistakes...
