So yes. I know you have all been on the edge of your seats...so here is the finished product! I must say I am very pleased with it, as it only took two hours and I managed to do the whole thing in one evening!

Having only 4 weeks to pack my entire house and emigrate to Australia I was very relieved when Phil stayed home from work one day this week. I could seize this brilliant opportunity to get up in the loft and start sorting the 10 bin bags of fabric I have squirreled away up there. Or I could go
HABERDASHERY SHOPPING
with my friend C, picture chick's mum. One hour later I was walking the aisles of the largest fabric wholesalers in London. Yes, I do realize that is not haberdashery but they were right next door, and C hadn't been before so I thought it was my duty to take her in. Here is a pic from my phone....This is just one aisle, there are 6, there is also a whole room full of fun-fur.
I knew that I wouldn't be tempted into buying anything because there is a ten metre minimum. (Remember my loft?). We had a good browse and were just about to leave when... wait...shall we just have a look in the remnant bin? Only £1 a kilo? I'll just get these few small bits. £13 and a bin-bag later and I have this bunch to lug home.
Some of the pieces are just a few inches wide, the bit with the sticker on or frayed but they will be good for quilting.
To ease my guilt at having bought more fabric I decided to make a birthing present for my friend's daughter who is just about to pop. She is a young and funky thang and half mexican so what better than a Day of The Dead baby snuggle? I chose these fabrics...
with the aim of making orange bias tape around the whole thing. Then I realized that this was overly ambitious and would most likely lead to staying awake 'til 4am, swearing at my machine/scissors/ husband/waking babies/etc. I hate making and sewing bias. So I just did the simple version, backed in lush purple velvet. It was done before a reasonable bed time and I didn't swear at any one.
I love it Karli!!!! you're the best! and yes, thanks for finally posting the end result. I HAVE been sitting on the edge of the computer chair for a couple days now and have lost a lot of hair in the process...
